About Us

A true national gem, the Canadian Tractor Museum in Westlock, AB first opened in 2004. This 20,000-square-foot world-class educational facility preserves and shares a large part of this region’s rich farming history by housing local collections of significance to collectors elsewhere, as well as the general public.

The museum’s many distinctive attributes appeal to all ages and genders, making it an attraction to not only residents of the greater region, but it is a popular stop for national and international tourists as well.

The “World’s Largest Working Weathervane” commands attention at 50 ft. tall, supporting a 1942 Case Model D tractor.
Inside, the museum presents and interprets a Canadian point of view on the history of steam engines, tractors and implements. Visitors can see over ninety restored full-sized vintage tractors, thirty stationary engines, hundreds of toy-sized tractors and implements, hundreds of literature resources (Some of which are for sale), and other agricultural artefacts. There is also a quaint little gift shop and snack shop with outdoor picnic spaces.

The first weekend of June, the Vintage Tractor and Machinery Club hosts its annual tractor show offering a pancake breakfast, tractor pulls, threshing and field demonstrations, concession, children’s activities, skilled events, craft tables and a parade. On the third weekend of August, the club offers most of the same activities again during the Westlock Fair, and a $10 gate fee covers breakfast & admission.

On the 3rd Tuesday of each month, year-round, the museum hosts “Tractor Talk Time”, a free community program including a speaker, refreshments, door prizes and an opportunity to socialize and check out the museum.

The museum also offers children’s programming (scavenger hunts, crafts, games/puzzles, and toy tractor and field interactive play centre) with educational activities.

In exchange for a donation, the museum is available for all kinds of events, including low-cost tractor-themed birthday parties.

The museum opens for the season May long weekend until the September long weekend, and is open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, including holidays. During the winter season, the museum is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 1 PM to 5 PM and Thursdays from 1 PM to 8 PM.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 6 to 15. Children 5 years and under are free.

During the off-season, guided tours are available with advance notice for a minimum donation of $ 25.
