Whether you are a seasoned curler or a newbie, the Legal Curling Club is a “house” you want to call home. Established in 1952, the Curling Club has been a long-standing beacon of fun during the long winter months in Legal. Many a curler has “hurried hard” and skipped their rocks in this Club.
With fall in the air, the ice is in, and the Curling Club is getting set to reopen for the curling season. Planned leagues are Men’s, Mixed, and Rec/Drop in. Depending on the demand, there could also be Doubles, Seniors, and Juniors.
Curling is a great opportunity for low-impact activity, a favourite winter pastime in Legal and doable for all skill levels. Anyone who is interested in the sport is encouraged to discover one of Canada’s iconic pastimes in a modern facility.
The Club has seen some changes over the years – from the Club’s early beginning in an old quonset to the current building that it shares with the hockey rink. Past improvements have seen a new kitchen and roof, a big-screen tv, Wi-Fi, and this year a new hot water heater, furnaces, and lighting both on the ice and in the lounge courtesy of the Town. The development of a website, an active Facebook page, and a refresh of the logo have been some other welcome additions.
Legal Curling Club promotes community spirit and encourages new friendships through both on-ice competition and off-ice social events such as their Ice ‘n Slice Golf Tournament. While there is a lot to brag about, the one key message is that curling is a sport that is fun with friends and family.
Come have fun with us this winter! Curling – all the excitement of skipping rocks, plus the majesty of sweeping the floor, all at 0°C.
